Quote the walk-in before they drive to the shop down the road

Exhaust work is mostly walk-ins, mostly same-day, and mostly decided on the price you give in the first two minutes. The paperwork has to keep up with that.

A walk-in quote Signed
  1. Vehicle 2012 Chevrolet Silverado
  2. Customer concern Loud exhaust
  3. Finding Cracked flex pipe, with photos
  4. Line 1: Part Flex pipe assembly
  5. Line 2: Part Converter, with core charge
  6. Line 3: Labour 1.5 hours
  7. Approval Signed on the customer's phone

The under-vehicle photos are on the line, and the inspection prints as a PDF to hand over.

Approved, so the clock can start.

One quote, as the counter sees it. The vehicle and the prices are an example.

What gets in the way

Sound familiar?

  • A walk-in wants a number now, and building a quote takes longer than the job.
  • Margins are thin enough that an unbilled shop supply is the whole profit.
  • Nothing brings the customer back until the next thing falls off.

One exhaust job, from the walk-in to the keys

A walk-in wants a number now, and building a quote takes longer than the job. Here is what MecanoPro does at each step.

  1. The walk-in

A number before they drive to the shop down the road

Build the quote from saved services and parts, so a flex pipe and a muffler are priced once and not rebuilt for every customer. Send it by text or email for signature, and the customer signs from their phone.

    • An accepted quote converts to an invoice in one click, and the signed copy is kept as signed, with its timestamp.
    • Prices are hidden from anyone without the right to view pricing, so the counter quotes and the technician works.
  2. Under the car

Show them what you found Growth and up

Build a short exhaust inspection of your own, with Yes/No lines, quality ratings from green to red, and text boxes. Add up to five photos to any line, so a customer looking at the rusted joint authorises work that a line on a report does not.

    • The finished inspection prints as a PDF in the panel's language, with every answer, comment and photo, to hand over.
    • A technician who finds something on the job raises a Finding with photos, and the advisor prices it.
  3. The parts

Parts, cores and work sent out

Each part moves from Needed to Ordered, Received and Installed, with its own purchase. A line can carry a core charge, and work you send to another shop, such as a weld you do not do in-house, is a Sublet line.

    • Cost and sell price sit on every part, so the margin is real, and Parts Margin shows on the analytics page.
    • Send a part from NAPA, Nexpart, Distribution Stox, Worldpac or DT Tire straight onto the job.
  4. The bay

    Started, finished, checked

The technician clocks on and off the job from the bay, and the work order moves through its stages. If you use the quality check, it is a checklist you define, such as Road test or Leak check.

    • The board flags a promised time that has passed in red, so the counter knows before the customer asks.
  5. Found online

A page for every kind of exhaust job Growth and up

Your website gets a page per service, with its own title, description and image, and a page for each town you serve, so a search for a muffler shop in your town finds the one that does it.

    • Your own reviews page takes a customer's review from an invite link, marked verified, and you approve what is shown.
    • Online booking lands on the schedule as a request for you to approve.

Where it stops and you start

A quick job still has to be right. Here is what MecanoPro leaves to you.

  • The report is a PDF, not a send button

A completed inspection opens as a PDF you print or hand over. There is no one-click send of the report to the customer, so send the quote and hand them the report.

  • A core charge is a field, not a core tracker

A line carries the core charge you set. MecanoPro does not follow a core through its return to the supplier.

  • Fabrication is yours

MecanoPro prices and tracks the job. It does not draw a pipe, cut a bend or hold a fabrication spec, and a weld you send out is a Sublet line.
