Find the part on their site. It lands on your job.
Browse your supplier's own website, then send the part straight onto the quote, invoice, purchase or work order. No retyping a part number, no pasting a price, and nothing to install.
The page showed one price. It went to sell price. Move it if it is your cost.
Sent. Switch back to MecanoPro to add it.
From the supplier to the job
Five steps, two windows, and one review before anything is saved.
-
Open
Choose the supplier from the job
A Parts from supplier button sits on every quote, invoice, purchase and work order. It opens your supplier's real website in its own window.
- With one supplier set up it opens straight away. With several, the button is a list of their names.
- On a purchase, only the suppliers linked to that purchase's vendor are offered, since a part from one vendor cannot go on another's order.
- If nothing opens, the browser blocked the pop-up. Allow pop-ups for MecanoPro and try again.
-
Find
Search the way you always do
It is the supplier's own site, and you sign in to it with your own account, the way you already do.
- MecanoPro does not copy a supplier's catalogue or keep a stock list of theirs. It reads the part off the page you are looking at.
- Nothing is shared with MecanoPro but the part you choose to send.
-
Send
One click on a bookmark
On the part's page, click Send to MecanoPro in your bookmarks bar. A small panel appears with the part number, brand, name, your cost, the suggested sell price and the picture, if the page has one.
- The fields are plain text boxes. If something was read wrong, correct it there before you send.
- A supplier's page shows one price and cannot say whether it is what you pay or what the customer pays. It arrives as the sell price, and you move it if it is your cost.
- Some supplier sites cut the link back to MecanoPro. The panel then says so and offers to send the part through a small new window instead.
-
Confirm
Review it once, back in MecanoPro
A review window opens on the page you started from, with a link back to the supplier's page. Nothing is saved until you confirm it.
- It looks in your inventory for the same part number. Pick the match, or create a new item.
- If the supplier's price differs from the item's, a tick box offers to update it. Leave it unticked to keep your own price.
- The supplier's picture is kept as the item's picture, but only if the item has none.
-
On the job
The line, the item and the purchase
Add it and the part is a line on the job. The inventory item is matched or created, and the part can go onto the supplier's open purchase with your cost and the address of the page it came from.
- If there is no draft purchase for that vendor, one is opened.
- Whether a part also goes on a purchase starts from a setting your administrator chooses, and you can change it for each part.
Where the line is drawn
A tool that reads another company's website should be clear about what it reads, and what it does with it.
-
Nothing is saved until you confirm
Sending a part from the supplier's site only puts it in front of you. The line, the item and the purchase are made when you click Add in the review window.
-
Costs stay private
What the shop pays is shown only to people with the Admin permission for Supplier Catalogues, or the right to see supplier costs. Anyone else is told the cost is recorded but not shown.
-
Technicians ask, the office prices
A technician finds the part and sends it as a part request on the job: the part number, the name and the supplier's page, with no prices. The office prices it and adds it.
-
Nothing to install
The bookmark is an ordinary browser bookmark, added once per browser. It loads its reading from MecanoPro each time, so a fix to how a supplier is read applies to everyone at once, with nothing to reinstall.
-
It only works on your suppliers
The bookmark reads a page only on a site an administrator has set up as a supplier. Anywhere else, the panel says so rather than guessing.
The catalogues we work with
Set up once by an administrator, then available from every quote, invoice, purchase and work order.
