The record
There is no odometer on a boat
Boats and personal watercraft are vehicle types in their own right, and mileage is recorded in kilometres, miles or engine hours. The history is kept in the unit it is measured in.
- The vehicle's current reading only ever moves forward. An older, lower reading is kept in the history without rewinding it.
- Decode VIN is not offered for boats, so the make, model and year are entered by hand, and a make or model that is not on the list can be typed in.

Take the winterizing bookings before the water gets cold Growth and up
Your website takes booking requests with a date, a time and the vessel, and each lands on the schedule as pending. You choose how far ahead customers can book, up to six months, so the queue is set before the phone starts.
- A request is not a booking. Nothing is confirmed until someone approves it, with a bay, a technician and a time.
- Reminders go out by text, email or both, and the customer confirms or cancels from a link with no login.

The hull
Winterizing, storage and spring on one hull Growth and up
Each is a job on a work order, and each stays on the boat's record year after year. Build the inspection you do, with Yes/No lines, quality ratings, text boxes and the odometer in hours, and up to five photos on any line.
- The hours on an inspection add to the boat's mileage history, so every visit adds a reading.
- The finished inspection prints as a PDF with every answer, comment and photo.

The owner
Approved from the dock, or from the cottage
Put the waiting jobs on a quote and text it for signature, and the owner signs from their phone with no app and no account. Each job is approved on its own, so they can say yes to the impeller and wait on the rest.
- A private status page with no sign-in shows the stage, the expected date and the photos.
- A work order's own Mileage In takes kilometres or miles, so the hours go on the boat's record and on the inspection.

The parts
Parts ordered in, and work sent out
Each part moves from Needed to Ordered, Received and Installed, with its own purchase and PO number. Work you send to another shop is a Sublet line, beside labour, part and fee.
- The work order shows Awaiting Parts when everything is on order, and the job holder gets an alert on receipt.

Spring
Last year's owners, before the first launch
With the Marketing suite, build a segment from what customers were invoiced for, such as the winterizing you billed under its own category, and text or email them. Preview it, and schedule the send.
- A segment filters on people, invoices and what was bought, not on vehicle type.

Hours are on the record, not the work order
Engine hours are recorded on the boat's mileage log and on an inspection. A work order's own Mileage In and Out take kilometres or miles.

There is no haul-out or storage planner
Winterizing, storage and commissioning are jobs you define and book like any other. MecanoPro does not track where a hull sits in the yard, and the Tire Storage module is for tires only.

Booking online is a request
Somebody approves it before it is on the schedule, so answer the pending requests the same day: it is the one queue with a customer waiting at the other end.
